Welcome!

A frankenpine grows in Brooklyn, its roots reaching from the subway platform up to the hills, down to the valley and along some dusty road with good light and sharp turns.
You could call Frankenpine a string band, with its banjo and fiddle, but the songs its members write collectively show traces of bluegrass, rock, country, blues and whatever else comes up when folks from the city play with folks from the hills.
They play fast when they can, softly when they should, and all night if you let them.
Since 2006 they've performed all around New York City and up the Hudson River. Frankenpine is currently in residence at the Lakeside Lounge, playing there the first Thursday of every month.

The band is:
Kim Chase - vocals, guitar, mandolin, percussion
Matthew Chase - banjo
Liz Bisbee - fiddle
Ned P. Rauch - guitar, mandolin, vocals
Andy Mullen - bass, vocals, accordion, harmonica, guitar

A "Frankenpine" is a cellphone tower disguised as pine tree. The name for the band came from a painting by Pete Seward called "Frankenpine." We've posted a gallery of Pete's "Stealth Towers" here. Matthew designs all of the Frankenpine posters using Pete's artwork.
